Course Registration Season Timeline for SY 2025-2026

"COURSE REGISTRATION" = choosing of classes.  For students currently at one of our seven (7) feeder schools (including Kalaniana'ole Elementary), enrollments for the 2025-2026 school year have already been created in our database system and no additional paperwork is required other than a Geographic Exception (GE) Form if applicable.  If coming from a school outside of one of our feeder elementary schools, please see our enrollments page for your next steps.

Early Course Registration (OPEN)

Course registration for the upcoming 2025 - 2026 school year takes place between Mid-November and throughout December for both Grade 7 and Grade 8. 

For Incoming 7th Grade, course registration will take place ONLINE via a virtual registration Google Form.  An informational flyer with a link to the Google Form has been sent to our seven feeder elementary schools.  See below for more information on incoming 7th grade course registration.

For Incoming 8th Grade, course registration will be paper-based & facilitated through current 7th grade homerooms.

Incoming 8th Course Registration (Through Current 7th Homerooms):  Nov. 18 - Nov. 22, 2024

**Honors 8 Application Forms are available at the Registrar’s Office or downloadable here.  Students currently in Honors 7 courses must apply for Honors 8 and are NOT grandfathered into the program for Gr 8.  Please visit the Honors Program Page for more info.

Incoming 7th Course Registration (ONLINE via this Google Form):  Dec. 2 - Dec. 6, 2024

** Honors 7 as well as AVID 7 interest will be selected in the online Google Form.

Geographic Exception Form (GE FORM):  Required if incoming student resides outside of Hilo Intermediate's School district.  Not sure if you reside in our school district?  Confirm here on HIDOE's Public School Finder App.

Deadline:  by March 31, 2025

Students who enrolled at one of our elementary feeder schools AFTER "early course registration" in December, or students enrolled at a Non-HIDOE school, private school, out-of-state school , or doing home school, please refer to our Enrollments and Withdrawals page for your next steps in completing registration for the 2025-2026 school year.

Late Course Registration for SY2024-25 (OPEN)

Incoming 7th Grade students who were enrolled at one of our elementary feeder schools (or incoming 8th students currently enrolled at Hilo Intermediate as 7th graders) who missed the Early Course Registration window have a future enrollment with us through the pre-transition process that took place last November.  Appropriate placement in required core classes have been made through communication with your current school.  Elective courses have been assigned to students based on available & "still open" electives following Early Course Registration.  No further action is needed on your part. We will see you at Schedule Pick-Up on WEDNESDAY, JULY 24, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. - 12 noon.

• Is Hilo Inter having a REGISTRATION NIGHT like in the past?  NO…Incoming 7th course registration takes place ONLINE via a Google Form from DEC 2 – 6, 2024. ONLINE COURSE REGISTRATION LINK

• How do I apply for HONORS courses?  Through the ONLINE FORM.

• I applied for HONORS through the online course registration form.  Do I still need to submit a paper application?  NO…Hilo Inter will compile your interest in Honors courses from the ONLINE form and follow-up with your current school.

• How do I apply for AVID7? Through the ONLINE FORM.

• I applied for AVID7 through the online course registration form.  Do I still need to submit a paper application?  NO…your interest in AVID7 will be compiled from the ONLINE form and Hilo Inter’s AVID Coordinator will follow-up with you directly for next steps.

• What happens if I don’t complete online course registration by the deadline?  Hilo Inter will choose available courses for you & you will not have an option to schedule change.

• Students Residing outside Hilo Inter School District will need to submit a Geographic Exception (GE) Form:

  • • Obtain form from your current school’s main office

    • Complete Section 1 of GE Form & submit GE Form to current school’s main office.
